Search wells clearly from iPhone.

Use this guide to find wells by name or API number, select the right result, and use the quick actions available after a well is shown on the map.

Search by name

Find a well by name.

Name search is useful when you know the operator, lease, well number, or part of the well name.

  1. Open the Well Finder tab.
  2. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Begin typing the well name, lease name, operator, or well number.
  4. Review the suggestions and tap the best match.
  5. Use route, favorite, share, and well info from the selected well.

Search by API

Find a well by API number.

Use API search when you have the well's 10-digit identifier and want the most direct lookup path.

  1. Open the Well Finder tab.
  2. Tap the search bar.
  3. Enter the 10-digit API number, including the state code, county code, and unique well identifier.
  4. For California wells, API numbers begin with 04.
  5. Select the matching suggestion to place the well on the map.
